Types of Anaesthesia used in Breast Augmentation Surgery

Your surgeon performs breast augmentation surgery under general anaesthesia or regional anaesthesia based on the specific procedure.

General anaesthesia is a combination of intravenous medications and gases that put you in a deep sleep. You are completely sedated and do not feel any pain.

Regional anaesthesia is also termed a nerve block. It involves injecting an anaesthetic drug around nerves to desensitise an area of your body. You will be less likely to have sedation with regional anaesthesia. However, you will be relaxed and comfortable. The site of surgery will be desensitised or you will feel no sensation.

    The Procedure

Breast Augmentation surgery in RG Aesthetics is an outpatient procedure done under general anaesthesia.  Once you are administered general anaesthesia, incisions are given either along the areolar edge known as the periareolar incision or the fold under the breast known as an inframammary fold or in the armpit called an axillary incision.

Through the incision, an implant is set either beneath the pectoral muscle or behind the breast tissue. The incision is closed with absorbable sutures or surgical tape. The results of breast augmentation are immediately visible.

    Recovery

When performed by an expert board-certified surgeon, you can return home the same day of your procedure. Recovery is smooth and speedy as long as you adhere to the post-operative guidelines non-negotiably. The advanced techniques of MicroAire and VASER in fat graft augmentation and the types of incision and placement of implant by a board-certified expert ensure fewer traumas. It enhances recovery.

Additionally, absorbable sutures and compression garments help minimise swelling and offer support to your new breasts to boost recovery.
