Procedure of Gynecomastia Surgery

Gynecomastia surgery is performed under general or local anesthesia. The technique may differ for various types of Gynecomastia. Liposuction is performed to get rid of the excess fat in the male chest. Small incisions are made in the lateral chest wall, through which cannula is inserted. For gland removal, state of the art equipment MicroAire and VASER are used in combination to break the gland and then removed through a very tiny incision on the side or lateral chest wall. Once the fatty tissue is removed, skin excision may or may not be required to remove the excess skin and to resize the areola.

What will be the scars like?

It depends on the magnitude of your problem. On most of the patients, scars are usually less than 5mm on hidden areas. For a very severe problem scar may be bigger around the areola (dark skin around the nipple) so that it is also hidden and camouflaged. Following surgery, you will have nice contour without obvious scars so that you can have the confidence to go out in public removing your shirt and participate in outdoor activities like swimming etc.
